Mountain Bike Route 1

Route summary: Farnham - The Sands - Crooksbury Common - Tilford - Hankley Common - Pitch Place - Rushmoor - Frensham Common - Bourne Woods - Farnham
Distance: 25 miles.

Ride time: 2.5 hours (10mph)

Start/Finish : Bus stop by Farnham Sport Centre.

[BW - Bridleway (Blue signpost); RUPP - Road Used as Public Path (Red signpost); BOAT - Byway Open To All Traffic]

Through town to 'Shepherd & Flock' Roundabout. Walk under the pedestrian underpass to the 'Shepherd & Flock' Pub. Pass pub on left and onto dirt track (BW) for 0.5 miles. At metalled road turn sharp left uphill and continue along this until junction with main road at Crooksbury Hill. Turn immediately left onto BW between houses and drop downhill through woods to road. Turn sharp right onto metalled road. Take left fork after 500 yards to The Sands. 400 yards past Farnham Golf Club turn right uphill onto BW to Crooksbury Common. Keep straight on to junction with B3001 at the 'The Packhorse' Inn. Cross straight over, passing pub, and onto dirt track (RUPP). Continue for 1 mile to metalled road. Keep left and drop downhill to Tilford. Go through Tilford and pick up the Rushmoor road. After 300 yards turn left into Car Park and onto RUPP. Proceed through Hankley Common (numerous BW routes) to Pitch Place and back to Rushmoor. At Rushmoor take left fork on 'No through road' which eventually turn into dirt tack BW. Cross over ford and onto Frensham Common. Proceed over common (numerous BW routes) to car park at Little Frensham Pond. Turn left out of car park and over road passing Public Toilets to bridge over River Wey. At buildings on the other side bear right onto BW through woods to Tilford Reeds. Straight over at the metalled road and into the Bourne Woods. Proceed through woods (various BW routes) to Lower Bourne and the A287. Turn right and up hill back to Farnham.

Mountain Bike Route 2

Route Summary: Farnham - The Sands – Gatwick – Elstead – Ockley Common – Thursley – Hankley Common – Tilford Common – Tilford Reeds – Bourne Woods - Farnham

Distance: 25 miles.

Ride time: 2.5 hours (10mph)

Start/Finish : Farnham Sport Centre.

Through town to 'Shepherd & Flock' roundabout. Under the pedestrian underpass to the 'Shepherd & Flock' Pub. Pass pub on left  and onto dirt track (BW) for ¾ mile. At metalled road turn sharp left uphill and continue along this until junction with main road at Crooksbury Hill. Turn immediately left onto BW between houses and drop downhill.

As path begins to descend turn right onto North Downs Way and metalled road. Turn left and then sharp right on metalled road to The Sands. 400 yards past Farnham Golf Club turn right uphill onto BW to Crooksbury Common. Keep straight on to junction with B3001. Just before road turn left uphill on single track and down driveway of house. At the road cross straight over to Fullbrook Farm. Again, at road cross straight over onto bridleway and through woods to Gatwick. At road turn right and after 700 yards right again. Keep straight on.

At giveway sign turn right downhill and over the bridge (watch for cars coming in the opposite direction). At the main road (B3001)turn left toward Milford, but after 100 yards take track on right-hand side. Proceed straight on through woods and onto Ockley Common. Continue straight and at pond (Warren Mere) bear right to Hammer Pond. If at this stage you happen on the A3 you’ve gone wrong !!

At Hammer Pond take right hand fork up hill to Thursley. Descend through village, on the road, a hard pull up follows!. At T junction cross straight over into woods. The track bears right and takes you down hill. At bottom of the hill a larger track is met. Turn left and follow this uphill to Hankley Common. At the top (car park) descend down steep hill, which bears left and on over Tilford Golf Course. On emergence at road (and Pub) cross straight over the Tilford road onto BW opposite. At main RUPP after 400 metres turn left and continue to metalled road and Little Frensham Pond car park. Turn right by toilets onto BW over bridge, trough farm and into woods. At Tilford Reeds road cross straight over onto BW (various) and into Bourne Woods. Emerge at Lower Bourne playing fields and rejoin Hindhead road (A287). Drop down and uphill to traffic lights, where right and left past Farnham Station and back to Farnham.

Route Summary: Farnham – Moor Park – Waverley – Tilford – Tilford Common – Frensham – Frensham Great Pond – Churt – Whitmoor Vale – Hindhead – Beacon Hill – Pitch Place – Hankley Common – Tilford – Waverley – Moor Park – Farnham

Distance: 25 miles.

Ride time: 2.5 hours (10mph)

Start/Finish : Farnham Sport Centre.

Out to Shepherd & Flock roundabout. Under bridge and pick up BW to Moor Park. Turn right and then left to pick up B3001 to Waverley. Just after Waverley Mill turn right onto RUPP uphill to Sheephatch Farm. Continue over road and continue on RUPP to Tilhill House, where right down hill on BW to Tilford. Through Tilford and uphill. After 300 metres turn right onto BW to Tilford Common. At minor road (Frensham Little Pond) continue on to Millbridge where left and then right through Frensham village. At Frensham Manor pick up BW following river round to emerge at Frensham Great Pond. Go over road past Hotel and after 200 metres turn right to pick up BW. At Crossways go straight over road and pick up RUPP to Whitmoor Vale. After 2km turn of minor road onto RUPP uphill to pick up A287 at Hindhead. At junction of A287 and Tilford Road take BW down Beacon Hill to Sailors Lane (?) and Pitch Place. Continue down Elstead road and after 500 metres turn left onto Houndown and over Hankley Common. Through Golf Course to Tilford. Retrace outward route via Waverley and Moor Park.
