Sherborne Half IM, 2004.

A "Dali"esque race report from Carl Atkinson after Sherborne.

----------

Early start, up, dressed ready by 0500 and then undressed and dressed again several times again before the start for the loo and forgetting things like tri suit and numbers and back for goggles etc I've found not drinking and getting lots of sleep is not all it's cracked up to be. Had what I'm now calling fugg in my head a cross between panic and nonshelonse odd but woke right up in the swim. Cool is a close description of the water first thing , making it look easy-peasy was the pro/s rollin' up after cosy nights in hotels and even running late was Spencer Smith who I helped over a barrier not knowing he was any one important till everyone wowed him through. He looked the same to me I'd of beat him if he didn't go so fast in the swim and in the run and if he just ran a bit slower I'd of 'ad him..... enjoyed the bike had a chat with "batman" a.k.a. "Mike Something" who I also met in T1. And then the run as I think all have agreed was slightly undul-aching I hadn't looked at the run map so wasn't aware it was two laps so whether that was a help I'm not sure. I was curious though as I passed the 11mile mark in just over ten mins if its full-on iron man next year an' the course is four laps I'll be first in the queue cos that would be a killer!!!!
