Olympic Distance Triathlon Championship
The Olympic distance triathlon is normally run on a Sunday in mid September of each year as a 'wind-down' to the end of the triathlon race season.
Distances & Course
The distances consist of a 1.50 km (0.94 mile) swim, 38.65 km (24.02 mile) cycle and 10.0 km (6.20 mile) run.
The swim takes place in Farnham Sports Centre's 25 metre swimming pool and consists of 60 lengths. Starts are normally staggered so as to allow the use of half the pool for normal swim training. It also allows slower competitors to start earlier and finish at the same time as the faster ones. (Click here for a location map of Farnham Sports Centre).
The transition area is outside the pool. The cycle route is and 'out-and-back' loop through Farnham town centre, and along the A31, with the turn at the A32 roundabout south-west of Alton. (Click here for a map of the Olympic Distance cycle route).
The run is in Farnham Park and takes in one large loop of the park and one small loop of 'The Avenue' before returning to the Sports Centre. (Click here for a map of the Olympic Distance run route).
