The Club

Introduction
Farnham Triathlon Club caters for all ages and ability levels of triathlete in Farnham area (North East Hampshire and West Surrey). We have over 260 members of whom over 25% are women and 15% are youth. We now have a wide variety of ages ranging from 8 to 60+. We aim to provide a safe, welcoming environment for the enjoyment of triathlon (Click here for our Goals and Aims).
We have regular coached sessions consisting of swimming sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings as well as Sunday mornings. During the winter we have coached turbo training on a Thursday night and a coached run session on a Sunday morning after swimming. In the summer we have a coached run session on Tuesday evenings before swimming (Click here to view full details about all our coached training sessions).
We also have regular non-coached sessions such as long bike rides on Saturday mornings and occasional Sundays as well as other run and bike sessions. Few manage to go to all these sessions each week, but many of us are regulars to some of these sessions in a week (Click here to view full details about all our other training sessions and club races).
Although we train in the three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running all year round, the main triathlon race season only lasts from April through to October. In this period, as well as racing triathlons, we have members taking part in road races (running), cycle time-trials, cycle road races as well as triathlon relay races.
In the 'off season' we convert to racing in a number of related sports such as road and cross-country running (taking part in a local Sunday league), mountain biking, duathlons (run-bike-run) and aquathlons (swim-run).
As one might expect, we are affiliated to Triathlon England (TE) which is a member of the British Triathlon Federation (BTF). We are also affiliated to the Cycle Time Trials (CTT formerly RTTC) and England Athletics. This means that members can race in road time-trials as well as enter road running races at reduced rates.
BTF Triathlon Clubmark
The British Triathlon Federation has developed a club accreditation scheme called ‘Triathlon Clubmark’ designed to assist Triathlon clubs such as ourselves develop quality standards. We are actively participating in the BTF’s Triathlon Clubmark programme. Triathlon Clubmark includes the core criteria of Sport England’s Clubmark scheme. This ensures that the standards set by the BTF are consistent with other National Governing Body standards so that we as a club are able to gain equal national recognition to other sports clubs.
The British Triathlon Federation recognises clubs such as ourselves who have not yet reached the Triathlon Clubmark criteria but are working towards it as “Entry” clubs. The British Triathlon Federation is in the process of developing Triathlon Clubmark further, offering a progressive accreditation process that supports clubs wishing to pursue excellence in its provision for children and young people. The British Triathlon Federation are currently developing Triathlon Clubmark Gold and Triathlon Clubmark platinum accreditation levels and a programme of activities and resources that support achievement of excellence.
